Review: Wilde Nights in Paradise by Tonya Burrows

wilde nights in paradise.jpgTitle: Wilde Nights in Paradise

Author: Tonya Burrows

Year of publication: 2013

The heroine: ADA Libby Pruitt

The hero: Ex-marine/Private investigator Jude Wilde

The blurb: Former Marine Jude Wilde’s motto has always been “burn bridges and never look back,” so nobody is more surprised when Wilde Security is hired to protect assistant district attorney Libby Pruitt, the woman he loved and left. Although she makes it clear she wants nothing to do with Jude, they’re forced to fake a relationship for her safety. He can’t ignore the heat still simmering between them, and when her stalker’s threats escalate to attempted murder, he’s left with no choice but to whisk her away to a friend’s safe house in Key West, FL.

Cooped up in paradise together, Jude begins to chip away at Libby’s resolve to hate him. But even as she gives in to his proximity and her body’s demands for his, she refuses to fall for his charms again. Maybe a torrid affair in the sun is exactly what she needs to get him out of her system. But when her stalker tracks them down, can they escape the steamy Key West night without anyone getting hurt?

Standalone or series: This is book one in the Wilde Security series, but can be read as a standalone

The review: It’s been almost a year since I started this blog and what better way to end it – and 2018 in general – than by jumping into a series featuring a quintet of hot brothers! Meet the Wildes: Greer, Reece, Camden, Vaughn and Jude. Bonded by the tragic loss of their parents when they were young, they now run Wilde Security, using all their skills as ex-military (or, in Camden’s case, ex-detective) to provide expertise skills to whatever their clients need.

When ex-Marine Jude’s former CO shows up, he knows he’s in trouble. There’s no way that Colonel Elliot Pruitt would be asking for help unless it was serious. His daughter, Elizabeth, now an ADA, is being stalked. While she won’t take the threats seriously, Elliot does and he only trusts one man with the task of protecting Libby: Jude.

Jude wants nothing to do with the case. There’s a very good reason Libby is his ex-fiancee. He broke her heart eight years ago and he’s sure she won’t want anything to do with him. But her stalker’s getting bolder, and to appease her father Libby agrees to go with Jude into hiding. But the forced proximity only goes to prove the sparks between them never died, and Libby doesn’t take much convincing to fall back into bed with Jude. But the past hangs between them because they never dealt with it, and between it and the stalker, will it be too much for them to overcome? Will they find their happily ever after? This is a great start to what promises to be an amazing series – you’ve got sexy brothers, a feisty heroine, some mystery and a whole lot of passion thrown in. Can’t wait to read about the rest of the brothers!
