Review: Boyfriend for Hire by Kendall Ryan

boyfriend for hireTitle: Boyfriend for Hire

Author: Kendall Ryan

Year of publication: Out today! The author kindly gave me a copy to read and review

The heroine: Paralegal Elle

The hero: Escort Nic

The blurb: I’m the guy you call when you need to impress your overbearing family, your boss, or your ex. Yeah, I’m a male escort, but not just any escort, I’m the escort. The one with a mile-long waiting list and a pristine reputation that’s very well-deserved.

I’m the guy who’ll make you feel beautiful, desired, and worshipped . . . all for a steep price. I’m hired to make you shine, and I always deliver. I’ll be whatever you want me to be for one night—except my true self. This is just a job, a role I play to earn a paycheck.

But I’m not the guy who falls for a client. Not once in six years. And then I meet Elle. Her friend has hired me to escort her to a wedding, but Elle doesn’t know we’re just pretending.

There’s a fire between us I never expected. A connection I haven’t felt in so long. One kiss, and I’m losing all control.

But what will happen when she finds out who I really am?

Standalone or series: Standalone

The review: When Elle agrees to let her friend and soon to be sister-in-law set up her with a date for the wedding, she doesn’t expect Nic. He’s charming, sweet, thoughtful, and thinks she’s beautiful. She’s smitten, but there’s one thing about Nic she doesn’t know…

… he’s an escort. While everything he tells her is true – he does think she’s beautiful – he’s doing a job. He’s been an escort for six years, the lure of the money he makes too much to walk away. He has rules about what he will and won’t do with clients, but he’s never had a client like Elle. She makes him want to throw away his rule book and walk away from his lucrative job. He’s always known he wants the dream life – wife, kids, dog, picket fence – but he never thought he’d fall for a client.

He was wrong. And when he realises that, Nic’s torn. He has to tell Elle who he really is, but he knows that if she finds out he’s an escort, it’s all over before it began. But he can’t help it; he’s drawn to Elle like a moth to a flame and she’s tearing his defences down. She’s making him want to forget the rules he set and the reasons why. Can he convince her she’s not just a job to him?

I loved the characters of Nic and Elle. Nic is the perfect book boyfriend; I mean, the man even cooks! I adored that he loved Elle’s curves, that he didn’t care she wasn’t a stick. I loved Elle wanting to go get her man. Another winner from one of my favourite romance authors.
