Review: Viking’s Claim by Madison Faye

viking's claimTitle: Viking’s Claim

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Rhona Gowan

The hero: Viking Tor Odinson

The blurb: Never kiss the devil. Not even if he’s sinfully gorgeous. Or impossible to resist. And certainly not when he’s got you tied and bound, and completely at his mercy.…Uh oh.

I thought I had it bad when I was on my way to be married off to some weasley little lord to appease my family. But that’s before I’m taken by the most fearsome, vicious, alpha Viking to sail the seas. Tor Odinson is a beast of a man. A savage. A bloodthirsty warrior and ravager. Huge, growly, dominant…and completely and utterly beautiful. I’m supposed to fear him, not want him. I’m supposed to resist him, not crave him.

…Yeah, whoops. Because once he throws me over his shoulder, and lays his hands on me, and ties me to bed, and makes me feel things I’ve never even dreamed of, I know “what I’m supposed to do” is the last thing I’ll be doing when it comes to Tor.

I know it’s wrong to desire a man like him. But if this is a sin, I’m already damned. I fell for the devil, and now I want it all.

Standalone or series: This is book four in the Kilts and Kisses series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: Rhona Gowan is betrothed to marry one man, but another has captured her heart with just a few kisses. Tor Odinson is the leader of the Vikings who have continually popped up on Scottish shores to plunder and pillage, but something he didn’t expect to lose was his own heart.

When he finds out she’s due to marry shortly, he kidnaps her and takes her to his camp. Rhona should be terrified of this big, brooding man, but she’s not – she wants more. She wants it all. And since Tor doesn’t have quite the same morals as the Highlanders in the previous books, he’s not too concerned about waiting for them to be wed before he takes the lass who has entranced his as no other.

Rhona’s previous suitor is less than impressed – and steals her back. Tor is having none of it, but he knows he can’t go up against an army… so he calls in some unlikely reinforcements. Will they be willing to help him? Will he get Rhona back, or is their marriage over before it ever really began? I liked the differences in this one that made it stand out a little.
