Review: Queen Sized by Madison Faye

queen sizedTitle: Queen Sized

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Queen Alessia Karl

The hero: Captain of the Royal Guard Oren Henley

The blurb: As the Captain of the Royal Guard, duty has always come first. Duty, honor, and a fierce loyalty to King and Kingdom. But, that’s before she comes falling into my world and into my arms.

Queen Alessia is all woman. Curves for days, built for sin, and soft, pouty lips that I’m dying to taste. She’s also the definition of off-limits: young, royal, innocent, and engaged for political reasons to a man who doesn’t deserve her.

She’s also never been touched. But then, neither have I.

A life spent training as an underground fighter and then a soldier means there’s never been a woman before her. Not ever. But Queen Alessia will be my first, she’ll be my only, and she’ll be my last.

She makes me lose control and break every single one of my rules. And today, I’m going to break my vows as a soldier. Guard her and watch her while she marries another man?

Fuck that.

Queen Alessia’s been mine since the moment she fell into my world. And today, I’m going to remind of that, if it’s the last thing I do.

Standalone or series: This is book seven in the Royally Screwed series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: Oren Henley is Captain of the Royal Guard and attending a function when a beautiful woman literally falls into his arms. He doesn’t know who she is until after she’s gone, but it turns out the woman is none other than Queen Alessia of a neighboring kingdom. Oren knows he has absolutely no chance with her, but he can’t get her off his mind after the sizzling kiss they shared.

Alessia is betrothed to the King Regent of another country because she must marry another royal, but she wants a man she cannot have because he is not of royal blood. But she can’t get forget Oren or the way he kissed her. When she’s back in his kingdom to marry Brian, who cannot ascend to the throne until he is married, she’s determined to do anything she can to stall the marriage… until Brian begs her to go through with it, but not for the reason she believes. Once they are declared husband and wife, a secret is revealed – will this mean that Alessia is free to marry the man of her choosing?

As with all Madison Faye novellas, this one is full of hot steamy scenes and an interesting twist.

Review: Viking’s Claim by Madison Faye

viking's claimTitle: Viking’s Claim

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Rhona Gowan

The hero: Viking Tor Odinson

The blurb: Never kiss the devil. Not even if he’s sinfully gorgeous. Or impossible to resist. And certainly not when he’s got you tied and bound, and completely at his mercy.…Uh oh.

I thought I had it bad when I was on my way to be married off to some weasley little lord to appease my family. But that’s before I’m taken by the most fearsome, vicious, alpha Viking to sail the seas. Tor Odinson is a beast of a man. A savage. A bloodthirsty warrior and ravager. Huge, growly, dominant…and completely and utterly beautiful. I’m supposed to fear him, not want him. I’m supposed to resist him, not crave him.

…Yeah, whoops. Because once he throws me over his shoulder, and lays his hands on me, and ties me to bed, and makes me feel things I’ve never even dreamed of, I know “what I’m supposed to do” is the last thing I’ll be doing when it comes to Tor.

I know it’s wrong to desire a man like him. But if this is a sin, I’m already damned. I fell for the devil, and now I want it all.

Standalone or series: This is book four in the Kilts and Kisses series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: Rhona Gowan is betrothed to marry one man, but another has captured her heart with just a few kisses. Tor Odinson is the leader of the Vikings who have continually popped up on Scottish shores to plunder and pillage, but something he didn’t expect to lose was his own heart.

When he finds out she’s due to marry shortly, he kidnaps her and takes her to his camp. Rhona should be terrified of this big, brooding man, but she’s not – she wants more. She wants it all. And since Tor doesn’t have quite the same morals as the Highlanders in the previous books, he’s not too concerned about waiting for them to be wed before he takes the lass who has entranced his as no other.

Rhona’s previous suitor is less than impressed – and steals her back. Tor is having none of it, but he knows he can’t go up against an army… so he calls in some unlikely reinforcements. Will they be willing to help him? Will he get Rhona back, or is their marriage over before it ever really began? I liked the differences in this one that made it stand out a little.

Review: Wed to the Warrior by Madison Faye

wed to the warriorTitle: Wed to the Warrior

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Catriona MacDougall

The hero: Lord Callum Bruce

The blurb: Other would-be suitors called me “challenging”. But the most undeniable, sinfully gorgeous Highlander lord around calls me a challenge. Oh and he calls me something else, too: his.

Marriage has never been in the plans for me. Not with my reputation for being “headstrong” and “disobedient”. That is, until Lord Callum Bruce barges into my world and scatters those plans all over the place.

But Lord Bruce is a brute of a man. A battle-hardened soldier and fierce, dominant Highland lord. Well, that and completely beautiful, which is so very, very unfair. When he tells me I’m to be his wife, I flee. But there’s no running from the most dominant, gorgeous, sinfully tempting man I’ve ever met.

Not after I’ve had a teasing taste of those perfect lips. Not when I’ve felt those rough hands on me. Not when deep down, I wanthim to chase me.

…Not when deep down, I want him to take all of me.

The first kiss was a mistake. The second was stolen. But the ones after that, I’ve run out of excuses for. I’ve scared nine would-be-suitors away. But something tells me, number ten isn’t going anywhere.

Standalone or series: This is book three in the Kilts and Kisses series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: Catriona MacDougall is not your average bride. She won’t be meek and demure, instead choosing to retain her fiesty and headstrong ways. This means that she’s already sent nine would-be suitors running for the hills. But number ten… well, he’s not wary of her. Quite the opposite.

When Lord Callum Bruce first lays eyes on Catriona, he’s taken with her spirit and her refusal to be someone she’s not. The moment he kisses her at their friends’ wedding, he knows she’s the one for him, despite her many protests. He asks her father for her hand, but if Cat thinks he’s just another potential husband she’ll be able to dismiss, she’ll soon find out how wrong she is… and how much she wants him to stay.

This steamy novella has some of the hottest scenes yet, and that’s saying something as this author always knows how to turn up the heat! Be prepared for your Kindle to melt…

Review: Stolen by the Scottish Rogue by Madison Faye

stolen by the scottish rogueTitle: Stolen by the Scottish Rogue

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review.

The heroine: Ailith Pembrose

The hero: Lord Malcolm McAuley

The blurb: Honestly, it’s just common sense: don’t ever, for any reason, fall in love with a pirate. No matter how tempting or toe-curlingly gorgeous he is.
And especially not when he steals you from your own wedding…

One minute, I’m being married off to a horrible, cruel man to sweeten a family business arrangement. And the next? My wedding yacht is being stolen, with me on it, by the powerful, roguish Highlander, Lord Malcolm McAuley.

Former pirate. Ex-soldier. Full-time scoundrel. He also happens to be toe-curlingly gorgeous, sinfully tempting, and utterly irresistible.

I should want nothing to do with the crude, filthy-talking alpha who’s stolen me from my own damn wedding. But the more I tell myself no, the more I want to tell him yes—to anything he wants…

Losing myself in those piercing blue eyes and wickedly perfect lips is dangerous. Giving in to his filthy words and pulse-quickening touch is a sin. He tells me I’m his, and the most sinful thing of all?

…I’m pretty sure he’s right.

Standalone or series: This is book two in the Kilts & Kisses series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: We met Ailith in the previous book in this series and learned she was betrothed to a man much older than her to be his fourth wife, the previous three all having died mysteriously at a young age. Not exactly a comforting thought, but Ailith has no choice – her father has made a business deal and she cannot refuse.

While on her groom-to-be’s boat getting ready for the ceremony while everyone else waits for her on the dock, Ailith is horrified to find the boat suddenly moving… with her on it. Once she runs up to the deck, she discovers the boat has been commandeered by Malcolm, a close friend of her friend Una’s new husband. It seems that Malcolm has decided to claim Ailith as his bride and isn’t going to let a simple thing like her engagement to another man get in the way. And Ailith isn’t about to protest too hard, because she is drawn to the rugged, attractive Scotsman who has spirited her away.

Will her former groom just let her go? Will she marry him or Malcolm? And how does the mysterious Viking Tor play into everything? You’ll get (most of) the answers in this steamy novella.

Review: Tamed by the Highlander by Madison Faye

tamed by the highlanderTitle: Tamed by the Highlander

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Una MacKay

The hero: Lord Hamish Ballentyne

The blurb: If I had it my way, I’d never get married. But then, it’s not up to me at all.
Because the gruff, muscled, gorgeous and powerful Highlander Lord Hamish Ballentyne has decided to claim me as his bride.

I’m determined to resist him. He may be beautiful, and dangerously brooding, and carrying around the shadows of the wars he’s fought in. But I will not be some lord’s property, and I refuse to be “his”.

Except one look into those dark, piercing eyes? One forbidden, pulse-quickening, toe-curling touch from his rough, strong hands? I can refuse to belong to him all I want, but the thing is…I might already be his.

He speaks to me like no man ever has. He touches me in ways I’ve only dreamed feverishly of. And he promises to take what can only be taken once. And God help me, I’m ready to give it to him.

Standalone or series: Book one of the Kilts & Kisses series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: This had everything you expect from a Madison Faye novella – possessive alpha heroes, feisty heroines, and lots of graphic, hot scenes. But this was a little different than your usual Madison novella, because it had a historical twist on it.

Una MacKay is being married off to Scottish Lord Hamish Ballentyne, and she’s not happy about it. She doesn’t know a single thing about this man, but her parents have made the match and she cannot refuse it. But that all changes when she lays eyes on her husband-to-be; he’s gorgeous in every way and she gets lost in his dark, fiery gaze. She doesn’t refuse him when he suggests they get to know each other intimately right before the wedding, and she’s perfectly happy to stay in his bed.

Until the castle is invaded, and Hamish finds himself needing to defend not on his castle and the people in it, but the woman he’s already lost his heart to. Can he keep her safe from the marauding Vikings, or will he lose her before he’s ever really had a chance to keep her? Another great novella to get lost in when you want something naughty to read but don’t have time to spare with a longer novel.

Review: Her Savage Mountain Daddy by Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out yesterday! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: College Student Nina Case

The hero: FBI private contractor Cormac Alderson

The blurb: There are three simple rules to the job: protect, keep safe, keep professional. The Marines and then life as a street cop trained me for the first two.

She’s going to make me break the third.

Nina’s the sweet temptation I never saw coming. Innocent, untouched…and in a lo of trouble with some very, very bad men after witnessing a crime she wasn’t supposed to see. Now, they want to hurt her. They want to take what’s mine. Like hell is that happening.

Protecting her is my job, but once I get my hands on those sweet, soft curves, I know I’ll break every rule to keep her. Once I taste those lips as she begs me for more, and once I claim that innocence, there’ll be no going back. They want her? They’ll have to go through me.

Nina’s going to be my everything and my undoing. She’ll be my sweet ruin. She’ll be mine. And I’ll destroy anyone who tries to take her from me.

Standalone or series: This is book nine in the Blackthorn Mountain Men series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: This novella is sizzling hot! Cormac Alderson is an ex-Marine/cop now working as a private contractor for the FBI. His latest job is to take Nina Case, an eighteen year old college student who witnessed a murder, into hiding for her protection.

But when Cormac sees a photo of the young woman half his age, he’s obsessed. He doesn’t know what it is about this girl, but he’s got it bad. Fortunately for him, Nina finds herself equally attracted to him, and once Cormac gets her to his private cabin on Blackthorn Mountain, all bets – and clothes – are off.

You know if you’re reading a Madison Faye book that there’s lots of instalove and even more hot, graphic sex, so you won’t be disappointed with this one!

Review: Reclaiming His Wife by Madison Faye

reclaiming his wifeTitle: Reclaiming His Wife

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Family company heiress Juliana Cardellini Kane

The hero: Marine Russell Kane

The blurb: Five years ago, she was stolen from me. But now I’m back from the dead to reclaim what’s mine. Here comes the bride.
Again, and again, and again…

What a woman like Juliana ever saw in a dirty roughneck Marine like me I’ll never understand. But I’m a man who knows what he wants, and I wanted her. I stole her heart, made her my wife, and saw the rest of my life with her.

…And then, I died.

At least, that’s what the man who left me for dead told her while I sat in chains, forgotten in a Taliban prison for five damn years.

Five years in a pit in the desert does something to a man. It’s made me hardened, feral, and wild. It’s made me hungry for the one woman I ever wanted, and driven to the brink of madness to have her soft curves in my rough hands again. Five years in hell have made me ready to move heaven and earth to get my bride back in my arms.

My enemy tried to bury me and take what’s mine. Except, he didn’t dig deep enough. Because I just broke out of my prison, and now? Now I’m coming back to reclaim what’s mine. Five years ago, Juliana thought she lost me. A week ago, I came back from the dead. Tonight, I’m stealing her back.

‘Til death do us part? Oh, it’s going to take a lot more than that…

Standalone or series: Standalone

The review: Russell is a Marine who was betrayed by a man he should have been able to trust and left to rot in a hole in the ground for five years. Declared dead, he eventually overcomes his captors and manages to get home just in time to stop his beloved wife, Juliana, from marrying the very man who betrayed him.

He storms into the church and whisks away the bride, his wife, who’s believed him dead for the last five years. After a whole lot of very hot sex, he gets his revenge and his wife back.

This book was a departure from most of Madison’s others because there’s usually a twist in the story and it’s usually something to do with the heroine. In this novella, the hero was hiding a secret of sorts, but it’s revealed early on. There’s was also quite a bit of going back and forth in time, which you had to concentrate on so as not to get confused. But if you want smut? You got it. This might just be Madison’s smuttiest book yet! As always, an enjoyable read.

Standalone or series: Standalone

The review: Phoebe Wright is engaged to the nephew of the boss for Boston’s Irish mob chapter, so when he loses her in an underground poker game to two of the visiting head kingpins of the Irish mob on St Patrick’s Day, she should be livid. But she’s not, because they are two of the hottest men she’s ever laid eyes on.

The heroine: Abby Jennings

The blurb: Vows sealed us together. The mob tore us apart. But now this beast without his beauty is coming back to take what’s his. She’s mine. To love. To honor. To comfort. And this time, to keep.

To a rough, filthy, savage mob fixer like me, she was an angel. My angel. The beauty to tame the beast I kept inside. I was lost the second I saw her. Abby was my everything. My second chance, the bride I never should have had.

…And then one day, I didn’t.

The mob takes its dues in blood, and I was their collector. And somehow, I let her get away from me. Too many shadows. Too much blood on my hands. Too many nights away from the only bed I wanted, warmed by the only woman I ever craved.

But tonight, I’m through. Tonight, I’m taking back my wife.

I’ve been keeping watch over her, and my desire has turned to obsession. It’s turned into a raw, fierce need—to have her, to claim her once again. To take her back and take her in our marriage bed. I’m through being the mob’s mad dog, and this beast is about to tear their world apart to get back his bride.

Months ago, I let the only goodness I’ve ever known walk out of my life. But tonight, I’m taking her back. Tonight, I’m claiming her all over again. Tonight, I’m going to remind her of the vows we spoke.

Standalone or series: Standalone.

The review: Colm Jennings is a fixer for the mob, and the only thing he loves more is his wife, Abby. But she grew tired of being scared for him, for them, so she left him, thinking he’d follow her… but he didn’t. They’ve been separated for six months, and Abby hasn’t seen or heard from Colm.

The heroine: Veterinarian Kennedy McKinnon

The heroes: Tattoo artists Landon Jacobs and Caleb Rawlins

The blurb: Our demons almost destroyed us once. Chased by our sins, our past, and the mob, Blackthorn Mountain was a clean start. A place we could start over, open our tattoo shop, and ignore the rest of the world.

It’s a great plan, except for one little detail: we never expected to find her up on the mountain.

Gorgeous, sassy, innocent, and tempting in that way where she doesn’t even know it. We know two outlaws like us should stay away from Kennedy McKinnon. We know those sweet curves and soft, pouty lips are off limits. But when one night of mayhem brings us crashing into her, there’s not a power on earth that could keep us from her and from claiming what’s ours.

The ghosts of our past aren’t through with us though. There’s a sociopath of a mob prick looking to take us down and hurt everything we love.

But that is not going to happen. Because what’s our is ours. Ours to protect, ours to share. And we’ll fight like hell to keep her safe.

…She’s not going to have to.

Standalone or series: This is book eight in the Blackthorn Mountain Men series, but can be read as a standalone.

The review: Vet Kennedy McKinnon has moved to Blackthorn Mountain to be near her sister and niece. For the past year, she’s been lusting over the two men who own the tattoo parlour down the road, Landon Jacobs and Caleb Rawlins. But she’s done the whole bad boy thing and she’s not interested in revisiting it, so she ignores the feelings that pop up every time she sees them.

One night, she opens her surgery door to find Landon holding Caleb, who’s been shot. She patches him up, but wonders what she’s getting herself into. She doesn’t want to have to choose between the two best friends, but they soon make it clear she doesn’t need to – they share everything. And they want to share her.

Standalone or series: This is book seven in the Blackthorn Mountain Men series, but can be read as a standalone

The review: Dane is an ex-military man who finds himself acting as a courier for a local mob boss. He doesn’t know what’s in the cargo he’s delivering and he’s paid enough money not to ask. When he’s transporting the latest shipment in the middle of a snowstorm up the top of a mountain, he’s involved in an accident and his truck topples over the edge. He’s okay, but when he gets out to check the damage, it appears the shipment he was delivering isn’t quite what he expected.

He finds Holly, a beautiful young woman, is the cargo in question. Shoving his anger aside at finding another human being has been sold to pay a debt, he manages to coax her into the cabin of the truck and out of the snow. They’re trapped in there, but Dane is well equipped for such an event – he’s got an extended cabin that’s big enough for sleep, along with several changes of clothes, food, and portable heating.

They settle in for the night, but the next morning it’s clear that there’s something between them and it’s lust at first sight. Holly is a willing participant and it doesn’t take long for them to find another way to keep warm. Eventually, the snow dies down enough for them to make it to a nearby abandoned cabin, where they hunker down until they can go for help.

But the mob boss isn’t about to let his possession go that easy, and Dane will do anything to keep the woman he’s quickly fallen in love with safe. If you love novellas with instalove and hot sex in them, this one’s for you.

Review: Sharing Samantha by Madison Faye

sharing samanthaTitle: Sharing Samantha

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Programmer Samantha McCue

The heroes: Business owners Reece Jackman and Gavin ??

The blurb: We’ve always hated Thanksgiving. After all, growing up rough and untamed on the streets taught us one thing: there isn’t much in this life to be thankful for. And nothing comes for free unless you take it.

We’re trying to lie low at a prick of a business associate’s holiday party. But when she walks into our world, we know we’ve found something to make more than our stomachs growl.

Fiery red hair, sharp green eyes, pouty lips all full of sass and sweetness, and very much in need of rescuing from her asshole ex. She’s wrong on every level—too innocent, too good for two rough-and-tumble men like us. That and we’re supposed to do business with her entitled, awful family.

But one look at Samantha McCue, and we’re hooked, obsessed. One taste, and trust me when I say we will be coming back for seconds.

Because there’ll be some stuffing on this holiday table all right. And plenty of cream for that sweet pie. It’s the season of giving, after all … and between us both, we’ve got plenty to give her.

F*ck being “forbidden”. For once in our lives, we’ve found something to be thankful for.

And we’ll be damned if we let anyone take her from us.

Standalone or series: Standalone

The review: The one thing you can be guaranteed when you read a book by Madison Faye is that it will be smoking hot, and Sharing Samantha doesn’t disappoint! This Thanksgiving themed novella has Samantha at her loathed stepmother’s house for the holidays, only because she’s recently unemployed and guaranteed a decent meal. Her equally loathed and incredibly sleazy stepbrother, Martin, is also present, so when Samantha’s ex turns up engaged to the woman he cheated on Sam for, she’s ready to split.

That changes when she is rescued from the most awkward of situations by a hot stranger, whom she later finds out is Reece. Reece and his best friend, Gavin, are there to suck up to Martin. They have a company that provides algorithms to hedge funds to help with trading and acquisitions. Martin’s company has been dangling a potentially big contract in front of them for the last month, so they’re doing their best to ignore their dislike for the man because this contract will be the break their company needs

That goes out the window when they see Samantha, though. She’s perfect. Later that night, she decides to hop into the hot tub attached to the side of the house. She thinks Reece is the man in it, and since they shared some hot kisses earlier she decides to be bold and make a move. It turns out to be Gavin, however, and after she gets past her initial shock and Reece arrives, the fun and games begin.

The three of them spend the night together, and when Martin catches them in the act Reece and Gavin decide he’s not worth it, so they walk out – and take Samantha with them.

Another fun and easy read! If you love menage that’s focused on the heroine, you’ll enjoy this.

Review: Claiming Candy by Madison Faye

claiming candyTitle: Claiming Candy

Author: Madison Faye

Year of publication: Out today! I was kindly given a copy to read and review

The heroine: Candice, known as Candy

The heroes: Roarke and Jensen

The blurb: Rough, untamed, and recently escaped from the psych ward at Tucker Prison. They say we’re dangerous—that we’re a couple of animals. That we’re unhinged, deranged maniacs.

…They ain’t wrong.

Tonight, we’re on the run, and on the prowl. And when we stumble upon the “date” auction at the local college sorority and see her up on that auction stage? Well, we know we’ve found our prize.

She’s far too innocent for two big, hardened, beasts like us. But, that ain’t gonna stop us. Nothing will. There’ll be no shaking us once we’ve caught a scent of her, no holding us back once we’ve gotten a peek of those sweet curves and honeyed lips.

She’s never been touched. We’ve gone far too long without. And tonight, little red is about to meet two big bad wolves out in the woods. Two big mouths, the better to eat her with. Four big hands, the better to hold her tight between us with. Two big…well, let’s just say the better to claim her with.

Something wicked her way comes. Two somethings, actually. And tonight, sweet little Candy is about to find two things that go bump in the night…

Standalone or series: Standalone

The review: This novella is the perfect Hallowe’en treat if you want something fun and easy, delicious and dirty to read! Roarke and Jensen mingle with the crowd at a Hallowe’en auction being held in a sorority house. Up for grabs are some of the new pledges for a ‘date’ – but the two men have no intention of taking Candy out for dinner.

After winning the auction, they take her upstairs where the fun begins. Candy is a willing participant, even though she says she doesn’t know them, but they certainly know her. I had the impression there was more to this story from the beginning, and it turns out I was right – after thoroughly wearing her out, the story takes a whole new turn with a twist I couldn’t have guessed and was actually quite interesting.

If you love smut, this book is for you. It’s M/F/M, with the emphasis on Candy; there’s no M/M but there is a happy ending. It’s very explicit and so much fun to read if that’s your thing! And I just love the cover.
